Isobel Stevens is a surgical resident at Seattle Grace Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Born and raised in a Chehalis trailer park, she lived with her mother, and spent most of the money she had been saving up for college paying their bills. At sixteen, she gave birth to a daughter, who she gave up for adoption.

At eighteen, she left home and never looked back.

She paid her way through medical school by modeling lingerie (though there are only a few people who know about that part of her past) before coming to Seattle Grace as an intern, and after a brief leave of absence after the death of her fiancé (another off-limits topic), returned to take her medical exam before being promoted to residency. She hasn't chosen a specialty yet, despite being courted by doctors from many fields.

Last year, she opened the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic, a free clinic for people who can't afford the majority of medical costs.

Oh. And she only goes by Izzie. Seriously.
